A book that captures the excitement and magic of camping in the great outdoors. What begins as a solo trip to the outhouse at night becomes a tale of in-the-dark suspense, humour and wonder... Getting to bed is a unique adventure when the small but mighty NugNugs get involved!
This story is a mash-up of childhood fears about going to the outhouse in the dark and characters invented on car trips to and from natural places. This story is written in the first person and with gender-free pronouns; celebrate nature with this delightful rhyming storybook for all kids ages 3-8.
From a Jul/Aug 2024 Wortley Villager article:
Patrick Cormier came to London Ontario from Thunder Bay for university, where he earned his Honours in English Language and Literature at King’s College (Western). “I met my wife at King’s
and never left London, moving onto Wortley Road in 2000, not budging since and raising two great kids there, now 22 and 25,” he reflects... "We’re big on trees; in fact we sometimes refer to camping trips as going to get some “Vitamin Tree”. By day I work as an Information Services (IT)
Manager. Lastly I am an avid all-season bike commuter.”
“The NugNugs are characters invented by my children and me while chattering away in the car while travelling for camping trips. Feeling
nostalgic now that my kids are grown, I combined the NugsNugs with the pride I felt as a child after my own first solo trip to the outhouse in the dark. I always liked reading rhyming stories to my
kids, the quirkier the better. This is my attempt to entertain kids in that same way.
